Los precios del oro y la plata se hunden hasta niveles de 2010

(OroyFinanzas.com) –La cotización de la plata está sufriendo una severa corrección en las últimas semanas. En este momento, la cotización de la plata-papel se está hundiendo un 7% hasta llegar a los 20,69 dólares la onza. La ratio cotización oro-plata está en máximos desde agosto de 2010, marcando 64,89 al inicio de sesión en el mercado de Singapur.

En lo que llevamos de año, el precio de la plata ha caído un 30%, gracias a una masiva liquidación de contratos cuyo subyacente es plata física. Así lo aseguran diversas fuentes consultadas por Bloomberg, las cuales cuentan que se han liquidado 21.798 posiciones cortas por parte de hedge funds, lo que supone un 20% más con respecto al mismo período en el mes de abril según la US. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Este comportamiento corrector en el precio de la plata también se está dando en el precio del oro papel como en el oro físico. En este momento, el oro está cotizando en los 1.338,85 dólares la onza, cayendo por octava sesión consecutiva y una caída del 1,5% intradía.

El análisis de este comportamiento del mercado del oro y la plata no es sencillo ni evidente. Observamos un movimiento muy claro de reservas de los metales preciosos hacia lugares donde nunca antes hubo tanta demanda y, por otro lado, los inversores están optando cada vez más por el oro y la plata físicos más que por los certificados. En general, la desconfianza hacia el papel y su convertibilidad hace que, en el inicio de un proceso inflacionario y una guerra de divisas, los individuos quieran poseer ellos mismos el metal para evitar episodios de inconvertibilidad.

Según algunos analistas a pesar de las continuas bajadas en los precios, el valor –lo que el mercado está dispuesto a pagar por los metales preciosos- se recuperará progresivamente a largo plazo, aunque otros señalan que antes de que eso llegue el precio del oro podría bajar hasta 1.200 dólares la onza.
