Request News: US stocks open lower after dismal jobs report

News of a rapidly weakening U.S. job market is sending stocks lower in early trading.<p>The Labor Department's report Friday that employers slashed 533,000 jobs in November has taken investors by surprise, coming in much higher than the 320,000 economists forecast. But the downturn was severe enough to add to expectations that Washington will have to take even bigger steps to boost the economy.</p><p>The market is reacting somewhat calmly to the report, as it has to poor economic data all week.</p><p>The Dow Jones industrials are down 48 at the 8,327 level. All the major indexes are lower.</p><p>
